Who The Heck Is “Roy” Metrics?

 

Who is this Roy Metrics guy I keep hearing about? People keep calling and asking for him.

Having a business named ROI Metrics I guess I tend to notice it a lot more than most people but this seems like another indication that many business owners and marketers have a lot of trouble measuring ROI so maybe they believe it’s better not to think about it.

I guess it’s ok when the receptionist or telemarketer doesn’t know what ROI stands for, but if a business owner sees ROI in all capital letters says Roy Metrics? That’s a bad sign.

You would think the context of Metrics would be a good sign that ROI means return on investment. Not some guy named Roy who spells it funny.

If you are running a business I sincerely hope you have heard of ROI before and you know what it means and recognize those three letters and what they stand for as soon as you see it.

If you are doing and kind of advertising, then measuring your results is one of the most basic foundations of success – but most people get it wrong. To measure accurately you also need to look at things like lead quality, cost per customer acquisition and ultimately return on ad spend (RoAS) or return on investment (ROI).

Most people stop measuring at the level of traffic or leads. Understanding customer acquisition cost is not easy for service businesses and companies that do business offline.

Optimizing customer acquisition cost and multiplying revenue takes even more work so most people end up giving up before they get to actually measuring ROI, they are satisfied with measuring the easy things like cost per lead.

Unfortunately only looking at cost per lead can be misleading and often ends up being a race to the bottom if you don’t account for lead quality and customer acquisition cost.
